Former Employee - Garden Cashier in Auburn, CA

I worked at The Home Depot full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Recognition/Acknowledgement of hard work (via customer service awards), Positive work environment, opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in many areas (via multiple department training), Flexible scheduling (willing to work around second employer schedule); Gained extensive plant knowledge from Nursery Dept heads and knowledgeable customers that led to a complete change in career path and life focus (attitude is everything, get what you can out of every job experience!)

Cons

Low hourly wage, No employee discount, practically impossible to get forklift training as a female

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay hourly employees more (customer service awards should come with a pay raise), hang on tight to those that take initiative, and do not allow the training and opportunities for advancement to be gender-biased.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benifits even as a part time employee. Great pay also (as long as you get enough hours)

    Cons

Never enough hours. With such a large staff you have to be dedicated to show you can handle the responsibility.
