Pros

great co worker relations get along with almost everyone, fun to work at, always busy days go by fast, great management team at my store.

Cons

watching associates that do nothing (slackers) get ahead in company while the one who bust there butt do not. not promoting an associate cause there better for the store where they are now(to valuable) to the store in there present position

Advice to ManagementAdvice

promote from within, promote those who deserve it.

Current Employee - Department Supervisor in Flint, MI
Current Employee - Department Supervisor in Flint, MI

I have been working at The Home Depot full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The training is better than most retailers and they work around your hours. As a supervisor, you are challenged to 'run your business' and, for the most part, you have more autonomy than most retail companies to do so.

    Cons

Department supervisors have the toughest job in the store. Not only do you have to 'run your business', you are expected to be floor coverage and know all areas of the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are going to challenge your associates you must first be on the floor to understand what it is we do on a day in day out basis.
