I worked at The Jacobson Group full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Competitive base
Commission structure was great (took awhile to get but worth wait)
Close proximity to sr leadership

Cons

Zero room for advancement (don't get me wrong they will change title but you acquire no new responsibilities and or recognition)

Gossip! There is not enough time in the day to talk about what a problem this is in the office. Not just amongst colleagues, but big problem within the management team and executive team.

Departments point fingers at 1 another if a job order can't be filled. Somehow sales gets blamed for submitting too difficult of an order, and get punished for drumming up business that fulfillment can't fill.

Leadership is deceitful and manipulative. They hide behind a culture of innovation and an open door policy, but you will be micromanaged talked about behind closed doors.

Advice to Management

Build a farm system of people you hire and advance out of college,and don't recruit established sales professionals. Your culture is fine, but how you manage sales is maddening. Anyone that knows better will run for the hills, money can only take someone so far.

    Pros

    Advancement opportunities available for those that are on the inside. Above average market pay, fun reward trips.The company has done a solid job of staying in their lane and staying solidly focused on one industry. Flexible options are sometimes available for those with company tenure.

    Cons

    If you're not one of the chosen few, the environment could be challenging. Current employees tell me that all employees are being moved back to the headquarters location, and that virtual opportunities are not as available as they once were.

    Keep driving strategic growth.

    Pros

    Decent colleagues. But leadership seems to discourage open communication and feedback.

    Cons

    Privately owned with micro-managing brothers at the helm. No career path. No mentoring. The one person who tried to mentor was fired.

    Learn how to be less duplicitous
