I have been working at The MENTOR Network full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Direct supervisors are good people.
Some flexibility with schduling

Cons

Poor mileage reimburment and health benefits
Company thinkis only of money and not the people who need care
Poor company structure and planning
Managment very inconsistant with their own compliance and code of conduct

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize you are dealing with mentally ill, developmentaly disabled, autistic etc and they are not caddle sold at an auction. I know its a business and it need to make money but this company is part of the problem when it comes to the recent state health care issues and benefits. Tighten the reigns up and help those who want and NEED help, not just someone looking for transporation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

have QA do more trainings hire only qualified people who can write and do not know other staff

I have been working at The MENTOR Network full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Consumers are great and there are great opportunities to gain experience at various levels.

    Cons

You'll hear "We're Mentor we do things a little differently" said in a way that indicates a revolutionary approach to care and standards. Our state and county monitors are not impressed. Mentor is trying to raise the bar without understanding why standard care and practices are standard. Approximately 80% of the problems I encounter are created by the company's nonsensical practices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn what basic standards of care look like and develop a concrete understanding of what the people you supervise should be doing with their time. It too frequently looks like upper management lacks an understanding of successful practices in basic care.
