It's not what I had originally signed up for. With new managment come unrealistic changes.

Regional Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at The Marlin Company

ProsIf you like to work at home and like to sell an intangible product like workplace communication to small to mid-size companies this is the perfect job for you. You can sell posters or elctronic digital communications with content. The company has some terrific people. The DSM's are great to work with.

ConsThe corporate office in Wallingford CT., keeps you pretty much in the dark. They don't provide you any tools to help you sell. You have to provide your own cell phone, computer, office phone, to get started. There mindset is "what have you done for me lately". What you did before doesn't matter. There is a very high turn-over rate; well over the industry average because you can't make good money in all of the territories they have open. Out of the 50 or so RM positions the avergage income is only around 50K (commissioned only). If you take a position with this company, you'll get 40k for a base and only 18/12 spilt on new and renewal business. If you decide to go to a straight commission, there's no turning back but you'll get a 30/25 split.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit tring to creat better system and a better ECS and help the sales people sell more. Sales Force is not the solution. How about a functioning CRM system instead of a reporting system...there's an idea.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
