Pros

Teaching children to behave better and improve their academic ability and progress.

Cons

The administration is poor, not competent and holds double standards to their "preferred staff." The working conditions are not tolerable after a length of time. Teachers are expected to stay in classroom contact with students for the whole day and even eat lunch with the students. No scheduled breaks and very little if no planning time. Expectations are not followed and preferred staff disregard and do what they want. Others get reprimanded and/or fired for doing the same exact things that preferred staff do. Admin are hypocrites!

Advice to Management

Show your staff what they need to be like by being a role model and helping out with the students. Don't expect from your staff what you will not do yourself. Help out with the teachers and substitute when was is needed. Train your staff and give them scheduled breaks to improve morale throughout the buildings. Reduce your gossip because it gets back to the workers. The workers are watching you as admin and are very frustrated by what they see.

    Pros

Great experience working with LD/BD students.

    Cons

Staff is over worked and under appreciated. Morale among staff is low due to lack of any kind of staff recognition for working hard. Management does not train new staff.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the staff you have that work hard for the well being of the students. Train staff in the beginning rather than be demoralizing after the fact.

    Pros

You can make a difference to underpriviledged children and help teach them new coping skills.

    Cons

Micro managed badly. Teachers are overworked and held to double standards than to other employees. There aren't break periods. Staff expected to work straight through the day with no break and have to eat lunch with class. Preferred staff get more leeway on issues. Administration is often not qualified or competant.

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage your staff and expect the company to run better. You can start by following Illinois labor codes and hiring qualified staff. Give better benefits and pay, and better communicaton of expectations. Treat staff better. Care about what they teach. You seem more concerned with your staff behaviors than those of your students.
