I worked at The Shoe Company

    Pros

    -great employee rewards/incentives programs
    -decent compensation
-opportunities to advance into higher positions
-lots of contact with head office, makes it easier to get information you need

    Cons

-often processes that should have been streamlined seemed inefficient, IE; memos for annual sales coming out at the last minute or late, even though the same sale takes place the same time each year - makes it hard for you to do your job
-very strict guidelines for customer service scripting, can make it hard to just HELP the customer
-very heavy reliance placed on results of customer surveys, including your monthly evaluation which later effects your wage eval. - frustrating when you read results of surveys and realize half the people were obviously not even paying attention when they filled it out

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus less on ShoeQ, and have more stringent interview guidelines so you know right off the bat you're hiring the right people who instinctively know how to give great customer service - then you won't need to rely so much on "extreme" scripting.

I have been working at The Shoe Company

    Pros

    1) The people!!! Everyone is so genuinely friendly. My fellow employees are not just people I work with, but my friends.
    2) Great discounts on shoes.
    3) My manager always makes it really easy to balance both work and school schedules.

    Cons

It's not great for further advancement opportunities.

Further feedback should be given on performance and good work should be rewarded and recognized. This is not always the case at The Shoe Company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

M2 should be a guideline, not a full-fledged script. It is not natural for an employee to engage in casual conversation with a potential client when they have to constantly refer back to such a stringent script. Conversation should be free-flowing...and the sales will follow!
