I have been working at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Plenty of room for upward mobility. Good pay structure that rewards hard work and good customer service. Beautiful showrooms to use as a selling tool. This job has changed my life. Constant training that keeps you sharp on the sales floor.

Cons

Many hours.Lots of pressure on store managers. management pay has decreased slightly this year.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

. Make sure managers are truly ready for a store before giving them the keys. Management pay decrease will see you lose some of your prime time players.

Not the greatest place to work unless you enjoy doing charity work!

I have been working at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You will learn everything there is to possible know about TILE - not much of a transferable skill set.
This place will drive you insane and eventually you will quit so you wont have to suffer very long.
Benefits are decent if you manage to stay long enough to be eligible for them.

    Cons

The Pay structure is terrible. 100% commission and the company averages your sales so you dont even get paid on the total amount you sell. Pay plan constantly changes and company is constantly looking for ways to not pay you. The best selling items are always back ordered for months at a time which makes it impossible to close deals. The hours are extremely long 80+ a week and you work every weekend. Dont plan on having a life outside of this place. Can definitely make more money returning bottles and cans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your sales people - They work harder then anyone in this company and you guys are so greedy you actually expect a high turnover in staff because you know no one can survive on this pay structure.

I worked at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    none, none, none, none, none

    Cons

they mislead you. You are never going to:
first - be the manager as they make you believe you are trained to be
second - make the kind of money they tell you you will make
You are poorly trained, you are in a cut throat environment competing for the small amount of customers with too many other sales associates, the rules are inconsistent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be honest, if you do not want to pay compensation for an employee accident on the job, do not discharge that employee just to avoid the payment. It is unethical
