Pros

Lovely physical work environment, great pay, cushy hours

Cons

Layers and layers of intrigue

Advice to Management

Your not as smart as y'all think. You've walled yourselves off from the rank and file and over think yourselves into corners.

    Pros

Good benefits and overall there is a community of really nice people. There are several opportunities to meet others through employee activities throughout the year. The USP headquarters (Rockville, MD) offers good conference rooms and a great meeting services staff. USP has (almost 200) years of history, and offers an open library and interactive exhibits to inform others and to preserve this history. USP also continues to attract many expert volunteers who give back to the community.

    Cons

Overall, a military mentality with scant growth opportunity for most. Punishment is used more often than guidance. Disrespect from management is shown when being too independent or stepping outside of what is defined dysfunctionally as the norm. Many employees keep head down and do minimal to survive.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and show more respect and encouragement to the employees that can make a difference! Do good research on what you hear - there is usually another part of same story that should be considered.

    Pros

Amazing benefits, good public health mission, friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Bad management, from the CEO down. HR is overly concerned with monitoring employee e-mail and web site visitations (they e-mail your manager regularly with a list of all the websites you've visited), yet when you go to them for help with HR-related issues, they are not very willing to help. It feels as though your manager, HR rep, and all senior management are working against you, rather than with you. Expectations are unreasonable. High turn-over.
