I have been working at The World Bank as a contractor (more than an year)

Pros

The pay is good for an STC - as my first real job in the US, I got a really good offer. I can work from home - I don't know if that's for every STC, but since I was hired through a friend who also happens to be my boss, I can work remotely. Mentoring program for young professionals. An awesome company if you prefer international peers. I like that most of the people are ESL, so my English is not judged that often.

Cons

No access to additional projects. People have to know you to offer you more projects. It's hard to network within the company.

I have been working at The World Bank as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

The Bank has a great work environment, surrounding by many intelligent and dedicated colleagues. Although bureaucratic, many staff are willing to engage with you informally on topics of interest.

    Cons

The Bank is very bureaucratic and political, so as a junior staff member, don't expect to interact directly with Senior bank very often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide easier pathways to allow promosing STCs to enter as staff, rather than making it very hard for them. STCs are often treated as staff, which puts them in an unfair position, since they do not have the days available to be treated as such.
