I worked at The World Bank as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Technically very competent staff and great opportunities for professional growth. You need to be comfortable working in a very complex organization and be able to set up your own result agreement with your manager.

    Cons

Competitive co-workers who may take advantage of you for their own career advancement. If you are not in a research or more technical position, you will need to play political games to move ahead. Washington HQ sometimes pushes its own agenda which is not always aligned with the partner countries' preferences.

    Advice to Management

Promote a more collegial environment based on true teamwork spirit. Continue to improve on respecting the partner countries' time frame and preferences.
