I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific

Pros

Products are cool and we are making a difference. Employees are treated well from day 1, with good on boarding process, lots of team building events and regular communication on the status of the business. Managers seem to genuinely are about employees. Continuous improvement culture.

Cons

Company tries hard tone lean, so some employees stretched pretty thin. High growth has put some strain on the systems.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing, but hire more people to reduce workload!

    Pros

good benefits, some smart and driven employees, some very good managers who legitimately care about their employees

    Cons

very little work/life balance...you pretty much have to just set your mind that you will not let work take over your life.

some senior management walk around with their nose held high, as if they were born and walked into a Sr VP position...wrong. Not how it works. You advanced and were allowed to move up the ranks - remember that and allow others to do the same.

Employees feel disposable....the company has a vision to double workforce and revenue by the end of the decade, but are constantly cutting employees.

company wants to be one of the worlds most respected companies, but this is merely a talking point...they will never take the actions to get there.

they want to talk about how they have top talent, but will do nothing to retain it. if you want the top talent, you have to give them an incentive to stick around. they don't understand this very simple concept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    appreciate your employees more

take the steps to actually become a well-respected company

don't cut employees when your CEO sits around with his private plane and $40 million paycheck...don't want to hear it.
