Shortcomings of a business model that shows growth through technology acquisition rather than development

I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Salary and benefits were decent, talented employees in non-managerial, non-leadership roles

    Cons

Thermo Scientific's acquisition-based business model results in a management structure that consists of accountants and lawyers instead of technology savey leaders. This results in a growth strategy which does not focus on or reward for contributions through internal product development. Acquired companies are rapidly reorganized with new leadership that reflects the overall management philosophy of Thermo Scientific resulting in a technically below-par staff replacing qualified above-par staff. Product sales strategy emphasizes low consumer pricing rather than product quality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize, position and reward technically talented individual contributors rather than "masters at manipulation"

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
