Pros

Big company, good experience for your resume. Thermo makes some great products. The manufacturing side may be different. My experience was with Fisher.

Cons

Fisher: Two year turnover rate. New hires are thrown under the bus so more seasoned, connected managers can move up. Insufficient training in all positions. Be prepared to lose your job to make the company's bottom line look good to the stockholders in slow years.

    Pros

Very competitive benefit package, driven and fast paced. The company promotes internal job board and seems to promote from within. The products and services Thermo Fisher offers are vast so lots of opportunity to move around internally.

    Cons

Because the company is so large it can be unweildly and difficult to understand 'whose on first'. High turnover rate at VP and above level positions. The divisions tend to operate as separate entities so it because difficult to rally behind 'the Company'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Expand communication beyond of direct reports to keep intuned to the pluse of the company.

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time

    Pros

The people that you work with are in the same boat as you, so it's nice to have someone to gripe with but keep in mind, this is a call center.

    Cons

Pathetic company luncheons, minimum to no raise, micro managing, company work ethic of "squeezing blood out of a turnip" with the amount of work that you are expected to complete between phone calls for minimal pay, benefits sucks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people to keep up with the work load and show some employee appreciation. Don't brag that you as the vice president make way more money than your peon poor workers that you "Don't have to worry about gas prices".
