I have been working at Thomas Publishing Company LLC full-time for less than a year

Pros

Great environment, the majority of people are young bright and energetic.
A lot of people have alos been with the company for many years, it's family owned but without the typical family owned business problems.

Cons

Management at times is in inadequate, there’s a good deal of inefficiencies in process control, but it is a problem that has been recognized.
Salary is a bit below standards.

I worked at Thomas Publishing Company LLC as a contractor for more than 10 years

    Pros

Salespeople within your group become your friends. Has the reputation of being the #1 industrial directory although losing share to other competitors; if you like being an independent contractor, has positives regarding work schedule.

    Cons

Their ads saying realistic starting income of $75K is ridiculous - salespeople starting out get the worst renewals. You work for a senior contractor who basically has your life/career in their hands; don't be surprised when you quit that you don't get all the money coming to you or you have a dishonest senior who doesn't pay you your earned commissions; management has drunk the "ThomasNet Kool-Aid" and Jim Jones is coming for you next. Singing "He's a Jolly Good Fellow" to Tom Knudsen, son of the founder is demeaning at the National Sales Conference.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management in NYC do not believe any of the reps complaints about the senior and they will only listen to certain seniors from the former Thomas Regional Directory. Start asking for feedback from the regular sales force and your product may actually work and improve.

I have been working at Thomas Publishing Company LLC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Relaxed environment that allows you to reach your full potential.

    Cons

There's little room for growth, because very few people ever want to leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. Acknowledgement and bonuses help boost morale.
