Pros

It's a family-owned company, so there's a sense of pride in the legacy. Vacation time is pretty generous. Most of the people are nice.

Cons

Still awkwardly transitioning from a print publishing company to a tech company. Lots of silos - nobody seems to know what other groups are doing. HR isn't as supportive as it could be of developing talent and promoting from within. No vision coverage offered as part of benefits. Most groups seem to discourage working remotely.

Advice to Management

The annual "how are we doing?" meeting isn't really enough to provide transparency. More frequent updates would be nice.

    Pros

benefits,no over time. Casual dress. Good location for commuting. Small company so it is easy to know personally the people you are dealing with.

    Cons

No job security - there are lay offs every year. Management gets away with bad conduct. Very pro management, employees have very little rights. There is no room at all for growth. Stress level is very high

    Advice to Management

Value the workers not the people that you feel threatened by. A 1% raise is not where at all doing anything for anyone that works there .

A great place, probably better in "happier times"

    Pros

Everyone was committed to their jobs, people that would be considered "veterans" loved the place and enjoyed teaching the newer workers the ropes.
    Benefits package a definite plus.

    Cons

This company was struggling a bit in the economy and had to let people go, not with a lot of warning and were considered harsh by some people in the process.
Not much room for job growth.
Training sometimes felt delayed, as in we could have been trained earlier and therefore worked better.

    Advice to Management

Train earlier, promote from within and encourage departments to talk to each other more.
