Current Employee - Technical Consultant in London, England (UK)

I have been working at Thomson Reuters full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

The ability to work from home with relative ease and not much office politics..
Sorry cannot think of anything else. One or two years ago I would have said 'Lower than average pressure, good life / work balance, understanding immediate management' - but none of these apply any longer.

Cons

Lower than average compensation, benefits slowly being eroded away.
Pressure to work additional hours on the up, unreasonable demands from management to deliver results in shorter and short time-scales - whilst at the same time banging on about improving quality of customer service. LOL!
Having to deliver sub-standard quality products to clients in order to increase revenues.
Constantly having to deal with unprofessional or incompetent colleagues in other teams throughout the organisation and outsourcing partners!

I have been working at Thomson Reuters full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits flexible work time especially for single mother. Very diverse in the people they hire.

    Cons

My department lacks in career growth. No programs for promotions or career growth within the company. I have been stuck in the same position for 5yrs. My manager is a micro-manager and discriminates women.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No employee should be in the same position for more then 2yrs. If so find out why!!!!

I have been working at Thomson Reuters full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

still many good colleagues; the work environment is ok, but admin workload gets more and more; products are getting better again and the brand is very good.

    Cons

too much short-term shareholder value in focus, strategy sometimes unclear; too much saving pressure result in stupid measures like travel bans

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start listening to your employees and give them room to develop their workforce in an environment without to fear losing job
