Low Pay, Raises Are Minimal and Not Performance Based.

Case Manager (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

ProsGreat vision and commitment to people with mental illness and homelessness. Excellent affordable benefits package.

ConsPoor supervision. Poor guidance. Workers don't feel appreciated and are overworked. Pay is not commesurate with heavy caseloads and tons of documentation and working after hours. If you are a hard worker you will get a cost of living raise. If you are a lazy do nothing worker, you will also get the same cost of living raise and you get to stay employed ,regardless. Advancement means little but it works if you know someone in the upper echelon and they helped you get there. (Thats' where the real pay is). Promotions are not always performance-based.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind out what a typical day is really like for line staff and middle management. Make sure you are soliciting input from these workers and hearing it. Break up the enclaves/cliques. Make certain that line staff get adequate support and supervision and that folks are getting promoted because they can do the job.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
