Pros
The past - it's a respected and recognized brand. It's a pretty laid-back work environment and very unix/linux-friendly for engineers. The development tools - compiler, debug tools, version control system - are fast and well-maintained. You get a TiVo for your desk and can watch TV all day if you can get away with it.
Cons
The present - the company is floundering 11 years after inception with 2 profitable quarter among the many poor ones. The benefits are pretty poor (no bonuses, no 401(k) match). The smart people that founded this company have apparently left to pursue other ventures. Since stock options are currently the only perk for non-management, the poor performance of the stock is also a big downside.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember what made TiVo great - giving consumers what they want. Our current strategy appears to be removing control more and more to make our advertising partners happy.
