I have been working at Tim Hortons full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free meals during breaks (though this really depends on which branch or franchisor you're working at), positive work environment, flexible working hours, well recognized customer service experience by other prospect employers, good way to accumulate customer service experience, interaction with friendly customers (and that sense of fulfillment of serving them).

    Cons

Encounters with unreasonable customers, back-breaking experience if you're assigned in receiving supply deliveries, repetitive nature of work (especially if you're baking), freezing experience inside the fridge and freezer.

  2. Minimum wage job for minimum wage effort.

I worked at Tim Hortons part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with. While sometimes a craps-shoot, you can find some engaging people to work with. Not very mentally tough; you can switch off and just go on auto-pilot. Basically, it pays the bills.

    Cons

The managers all seem to think that they are motivational leaders of the community, when they actually aren't. Sorry guys, it's still Tim Hortons, no matter how much you play it up. Some of the workers do tend to suck the energy out of the room, and it's never fun dealing with irritable customers at six in the morning before they have their coffee and have to wait in line for ten minutes because you're understaffed.

    Advice to Management

The students you hire aren't under any pretenses. Stop trying to 'motivate' us with pats on the back and job reviews. If you want employees with higher energy levels, then hire people who display that. Don't hire a sloth and expect him/her to not be a sloth. Just let people do their jobs man, it's what you hired them for. They aren't there for career advancement, it's a bill-paying job.
