I have been working at Time full-time for more than a year

Pros

-4 weeks vacation
-Summer Fridays
-Benefits
-Occasional telecommuting (must be pre-approved and limited)
-Non-management employees are friendly. Misery loves company.
-Flexible work hours

Cons

-Low salaries
-No training because it costs money. Training is on your own time
-Little to no advancement because you can't get training.
-A LOT of politics, power struggles, and egos.
-Management at all levels loves to pull rank and let you know your place.
-No trust between any level of employee which leads to ultra-micro management.
-No corporate communication unless you read the NY Post.
-No recognition for a good job. Just more work.
-No project management/organization.
-No coordination between titles and IT.
-No coordination/project management among IT.
-Everyone is running scared due to the spin saddling us with billions in debt.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to become a technology company, hire a CEO that understands technology. Get rid of the old regime/senior management on the print side. They are the ones causing all of the politics. If not, Time is doomed for sure.
