I have been working at Time full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Time Inc. has a lot of good people, there are plenty of perks like Summer Fridays, lots of time off, decent benefits, etc. that make it hard to leave here.

Cons

Unfortunately, Publishing is an industry that is struggling mightily. There are too many good people leaving. The people that remain are complacent and not accustomed to working hard. With a management team in disarray, there is no clear direction for the company other than the impending spin-off.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Separate each magazine into an individual business. Let the market and management team decide which brands survive and which ones fail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to become a technology company, hire a CEO that understands technology. Get rid of the old regime/senior management on the print side. They are the ones causing all of the politics. If not, Time is doomed for sure.

Hard to take your career to the next level. Like any big corporation it's hard to make yourself noticeable, even when your hard craftsmanship standout.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay more attention to who does what and not just gratify the people with the "big" titles.
