Really Depend On What Department You Join!!!

Pros

Pay is good. Bonus is offered right off the bat. Working environment is flexible (no clock watchers). Technically, it should be a good place to work.

Cons

Unfortunately, it also depends on what department you join. Micromanagement, Lack of teamwork, Favoritism are common in my department.

Benefits are weird (90 days before you can contribute 401K, 180 days before you can use your own vacation, one extra month gap to have your healthcare covered after you join the company)

In my department, we do not really do the real work but using outside vendors a lot. If you want to learn hands-on experiences. You should think again about joining.

However, if you are an engineer, above may not apply. I heard it is very different on the engineering side except benefits.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Micromanagement actually starts from the top.

    It was a great experience!

    Pros

Overall, Time Warner Cable is a great company to work for. The Media and Communications industry is constantly changing and evolving, so there is always something new to learn. Besides, it's one of the big players in the industry and the experience gained working at TWC definitely looks good on a resume.

    Cons

Senior leaders (in Herndon and NYC) often lack the ability to communicate outside of their comfort zone in ways that inspire, engage and light the way. And, those who have fallen into a leadership position are still growing and learning, and they don't usually have competent leadership skills.

On top of this, the culture increasingly rewards self-promotion and if you are more of an introvert you will have trouble navigating your way up the corporate ladder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It’d be nice if TWC provides career development and coaching program to help employees develop and progress. In addition, managers can't be a one-size-fits-all and they need to be willing to learn and adjust their style to bring the potential of each employee.
