Back to Time Warner Cable Reviews
Time Warner Cable – “For the industry itself, Time Warner Cable is a great place to work.”
Pros
Time Warner Cable is a well known company with a diverse platform of services. The benefits are better than many other companies or industries. Career opportunities are well published throughout the company, particularly if relocation is not an issue. The people are friendly and for the most part easy to work with. In most cases there is an understanding of the need for a life and work balance. They value employment recommendations from their current employees and reward them for those recommendations when a referral is actually hired. It's an ever changing and evolving industry and certainly never dull or routine.
Cons
I don't think the downsides are specific to Time Warner Cable so much as they are to the industry itself. There have been so many changes to technology since the early days of cable TV. Although more structure and standardization is slowly being implemented across the country, it still functions somewhat as though each location is an entity within itself. Over the past 20 plus years, the philosphy has gone from decentralization back to regionalization. If you are used to an organization with specific rules and processes that are practiced across all locations, the cable industry is still not there yet.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management is not in touch with daily operations in many cases and doesn't always understand what it takes (both in manpower and time) to accomplish the goals that it sets. There is not an appreciation for the learning curve necessary to bring a new hire fully to a knowledge contributory level in this new age of technology.
