Time Warner Cable – “Good experience but heavy workload and low pay

Jun 15, 2009

3.0

Time Warner Cable Network Engineer in Columbia, SC:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Excellent benefits: free internet, cable tv with all channels, company car with gas paid. Excellent work experience: get hands on experience managing a 500,000+ CPE network, millions of dollars worth of networking gear, Cisco/Motorola/Arris training.

Cons

Long hours with no added compensation: I work roughly 60 hrs/week and am on salary ( a low one at that). Lots of responsibility with my job but the pay does not reflect this. Often times insufficient training/knowledge base available and unrealistic expectations relating to major projects.

Advice to Senior Management

Increase salaries for Engineering staff to match competitors. Improve training, no current structure for engineering department.
