I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The nearly free cable and internet are good. Half price for phone. The insurance cost is OK. $140 a paycheck for a family of 4. Free coffee. Average Commission being $100 a paycheck for sales. Relaxed dress code. Starting pay $10.60. %3-4 increase in pay every year. Start out with 2 weeks vacation. Add 1 week of vacation per 5 years. 4 personal days per year. Vacation and personal days do not carry over. Accrue sick time per month. There was opportunity for overtime until recently after some restructuring.

    Cons

The job is stressful. The customers on the phones can be mean, vulgar, unfairly persistent and take their anger out on you. There are ones who are OK but they are few and far in between. Leadership is aware and understands the stress of the job requirements but "Business is business and business must grow." to quote Dr. Suess. There are determinants that are beyond your control that affect whether or not you keep your job with TWC. Customer surveys, customer call backs, not making enough sales, staying on a call too long when a rep should be on their break, having to put someone on hold or all measurements that can lead to your dismissal from TWC.

Employee churn says a lot. After a year it is rare to see more than 5 remain from a class of 30. The remaining five are gone in year 2. The main reason for removal of an employee is calling off too much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The move from QA to Compass was excellent. We need that type of thought process to extend more into other areas of the job.
