Time Warner – “Great asset to your resume, be ready to speak up for yourself

Sep 23, 2009

3.0

Time Warner Marketing Manager At Time Inc:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Time Inc. give lots of vacation time and is full of interesting people to help broaden your horizons. This is a media giant so if you want to work in the publishing industry, it's great to have some of their bigger brands on your resume. Large amount of discounts at the ready. Free magazines.

Cons

Even though you get loads of vacation time, it's hard to take it because of all the work that you are likely to be responsible for. You really have to speak up for yourself and protect your life, because Time Inc. will take whatever amount of your life you are wiling to give. And if you are the quiet type, forget about it...your work - no matter how good, won't speak for itself - this is true many places anyway. But if you are not gregarious, you will likely be a bit of a pariah at Time.

Advice to Senior Management

Somehow find a way to strike a balance between the endless quest to deliver shareholder growth every year and the amount of squeezing you do on the employees who are left after all the layoffs.
