Timken – “Timken: Where You Turn... for a strong career opportunity”
Pros
Varied job rotations/assignments are excellent and abundant. Exposure to many aspects of the business, including global expansion. High degree of trust, collegiality and autonomy. Mid-level managers are generally pretty plugged in to their subordinates. Benefits are very generous and compensation is fair/in line with the marketplace.
Cons
Timken is a very old company that can, at times, be overly cautious and slow in its decision making. Location is not terribly convenient for many. Somewhat frugal compared to other companies (this may actually be a strength, but to the employee it sometimes feels restrictive).
Advice to Senior Management
Interact more with lower level employees. One sometimes hears grumbling about the inaccessibility of senior leaders and their occassional disconnection from the employee experience. Make sure to communicate significant (and especially negative) changes in a way that you would feel good about receiving.
