Old boy network being forced into the 21st century by the HR department

Senior Analyst (Current Employee) Canton, OH

ProsMany highly intelligent Engineers with great ideas. Good products and long history.

ConsThis company is so far behind in hiring/promoting minorities, but they are trying to catch up. That's good if you're a minority, not so good for a white middle aged male.
The steel side of the business has terribly outdated accounting/management software, because they are too afraid a conversion would cause down time.
The average employee is a 50+ white male who plans to retire in the next 5 years. There is going to be a lot of lost knowledge here, but anyone with their foot in the door may get some fast promotions.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet new software for the steel business. Hire more minorities and promote more women. Don't let the "old boy" network continue.
