Pros

Compensation is adequate. Exposure to the world of home building is good.

Cons

Inspiration and the authority to do one's job is hard to come by. It's a fairly autocratic organization.

    Pros

    Exposure to all aspects of homebuilding.

    Cons

    Poor communication between land acquisition, land developement and operations. Lack of training/ mentoring, "sink or swim culture". Division Presidents/ senior managers are not held accountable for the development and training of their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider the addition of 360 degree reviews. Give employees a forum to review and evaluate senior management. Don't assume that Division Presidents don't need help developing their leadership skills.

    I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time

    Pros

    Great financial strength, excellent systems, able to make quick decisions to market conditions, and the best employees in the business.

    Cons

    A job with Toll does not come without sacrifices. Be prepared to work to standard not time (i.e. work until the job is done and done right, not 9-5).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs to be attentive to how they are compensating their middle management teams. Middle management has kept the company afloat during the down turn and will be the driving force behind Toll Brothers' successful emergence into the "New Normal".
