Pros

Most people that you work with are nice. Job is relatively easy and not stressful. Average discount, good pay, good hours (if you're full time), and good benefits.

Cons

Management take their jobs way to seriously. They like to get on you for the smallest things. Upper management is clueless and often bullies. Wine associates are favored over all other employees in the store, and most customers are just plain rude.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of barking orders and threatening punishment, try working with the employees and giving them constructive advice as to what they can improve in the future.

    Pros

Always hours available, education on wine and spirits, good location (San Tan Mall)

    Cons

Too many; downright rude managers that are demeaning toward employees, a couple are worst than the others. Very un-compassionate when it comes to being sick or having a family emergency, Wine associates are clearly favored over everyone else, and you rarely get off on time. I can go on and on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Total Wine can be a much better place to work, should be fun and it's usually not. Treat employees, especially FETM's with more respect and try and reduce turn-over. Corporate needs to get involved also as it seems store management is powerless to change things. One 30 min lunch is not enough when you are working a 11-12 hr shift, employees need to be allowed to step away for a few mins and de-compress, especially during the very insane and stressful holiday season. Reading the reviews on this site, it is clear every store has the same issues-Corporate is to blame as they are aware and seem to make the policies.

    Pros

Growing company with some good employees; some of the stores have congenial employee atmospheres despite the hard work and low pay

    Cons

Micromanagement; authoritarian; abusive treatment of employees; obsession with money often creates "penny-wise pound foolish" decision making; no bonuses, profit-sharing or equity participation (owners do not believe in sharing in the company's huge financial success). If you are considering working here, turn around and run (don't walk) away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go public so that management will be accountable to all of the company's constituencies
