Pros

-Very good scheduling flexibility -Management is not too bad -Good for college kids -Lots of excercise -You have a lot of cash money on hand.

Cons

-Low pay compared to other valet companies -Tip pool sucks when you have 20 people working one shift -Certain locations pay more/less, pray that you get lucky and get a good one -Need to stay a year to get benefits -No real reason to stay other than a paycheck

Advice to Management

You need to find way to keep your employees longer.

It all depends on who you work with, because compensation and enduring the elements don't add up.

    Pros

Management isn't all over the place, and thus, you will have a good idea of what they are looking for via a complete job description. They've been around for awhile, so you aren't getting yourself into some upstart ponzy scheme that benefits only the person at the top. Good college job part-time job.

    Cons

The fact that you are parking cars for a living doesn't really provide job satisfaction. So if you are in college, cool, but if you're in your late 20's-early 30's...don't fool yourself, this will not supplement your desire for a "career." The pay starts out okay, but will not improve. Unless of course, you actually get the one promotion you can possibly get, and even still, your pay rate only goes up $1/hr. Running around in the ice and snow and rain is always delightful.

    Advice to Management

7.25/hr is good for starting wages, but it would occur to me, that a good way to secure employees (so you aren't training in new ones every 2-3 months) would be to provide raises. Even if they are only slight increases, you are going to have people feeling like they've grown in some way. If a year after getting hired, i'm still at the same wage, it's no-harm-no-foul for me to just walk away from the gig. "Best people guaranteed" ...only works if you....hire...good valet's ...just a thought. The recent trend in hiring leaves much to be desired.

    Pros

Being exposed to leaders in the hotel industry that "get it". The ability to travel and make a fairly decent living....that is if you don't divide the your check by the amount of hours spent managing your property.

    Cons

The constant emails and phone calls. Dealing with the "good ole boy" network. Poor management at the district and regional level.

    Advice to Management

Break-up the "good ole boy" network.
