I have been working at Townsquare Media

Pros

Great company with a strong vision.

Cons

Company seems detached from lower level employees. Poor management is very, destructive to great companies. They should reach out to their current employees to get thoughts and feelings on what is going on in each market. It would be wise to get some management training to current management. Change brings stress, and managers should be equipped to guide the team to success.

I have been working at Townsquare Media full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

VP's are all broadcast industry guys who love the business and are doing everything they can to develop and support new products. A lot of these new products, like music industry websites, daily deals, and online products are slick and look great

    Cons

The same VP's are tend to be elitist and don't listen to the local markets unique issues. There's very little direction on new products and no clearly defined sales process for selling into these products.

The C level team are all bankers who don't know radio. They are focused on bottom line first, quality product second. I get it, you need to be profitable, but these guys don't understand radio and the core product suffers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire VP's who collaborate with local markets, put their egos aside, and listen. You've fired and /or chased away lots of great talent.

Townsquare is innovative and progressive, but should really get ahead of their growth.

I have been working at Townsquare Media full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Flexibility
    - Great corporate staff and support
    - Fun environment
    - Some travel and other opportunities, like concerts and events

    Cons

    - Long hours
    - Typically lower than industry average pay
    - Having to perform duties outside of job description
    - Expectations and requirements for jobs change quickly and often

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get ahead of your growth by hiring more people, rather than expecting everyone to perform multiple job roles. The direction of the company is great, but you need to have the staff to support it to prevent burnout.
