I worked at Towson University part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Great coworkers, friendly environment, covers tuition (graduate level), great way to earn a Masters if you don't mind being broke, In charge of your own class (no other teachers for biology), looks good on a resume

Cons

Poor pay, difficult to afford living expenses on, tuition fees are not cover and can be over $100 per credit hour, pay is lower than adjunct teachers who are doing the same work as you

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide raise to compensate for simple inflation, consider how much apartments in the area cost, also food and gas expenses

I worked at Towson University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    dept of kinesiology faculty outstanding!

    Cons

Kinesiology faculty compensation extremely low (you value finance profs much higher...pathetic!!!); Dean of College weak and a follow-order functionary careerist; vision beyond building new spaces thru 2020 is absent...what difference, besides being a repository for the state student capacity that couldn't get into College Park, does Towson see for itself?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It needs to more authentically get back to its Teachers College roots...a focus on ontology and pedagogy as a base for liberal learning instead of chasing defense / homeland dollars is a longer-term strategy...in fact, hire a President that isn't primarily a fund-raiser, but, rather, primarily into the development of critical thinking...gain a rep that could be unique, in stead of employing an approach that can be seen as nothing but common and typical.

I worked at Towson University full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

None Towson is a terrible place to work.

    Cons

Low salary, poor working conditions, salary was cut and frozen several times in a year. Office was a shared space with peeling paint, no heat, no air conditioning, and no Internet access.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Adopt a for profit model, with few if any full time faculty, as Towson seems uninterested in retaining them.
