I have been working at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing

Pros

Excellent job security, lots of vacation, great health care benefits.
Overall the team members are friendly and people generally exhibit a company first attitude (as opposed to only one dept or another.)

Cons

Little room for development after 5-7 years.
Rotation ability to other departments very limited.
Promotion opportunities becoming more and more limited.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Technical / skills promotions & recognition is very important. Glass ceiling for workers is very short. After 5-7 years little career advancement or personal growth is possible outside of management.

I worked at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Significant responsibilities given to co-op student and lots of subsequent learning opportunities
    - Strong emphasis on initiative and independent work
    - Company pays accordingly
    - Close-knit teams

    Cons

    - Multitude of standards and procedures that make sure no steps are missed with complicated projects, seem to provide certain hurdles for much simpler tasks
    - Heavy hours depending on the team you are with; dependent on what part of the vehicle development cycle you get a term
    - Engineers you work with are very approachable but are so busy themselves, you feel hesitant to ask them questions at certain times

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
