Toyota Motor Sales Regional Field Manager:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

A company with a very good product. In spite of the company's short comings in management, the product, controlled by Toyota Motor Company in Japan, remains very high in quality and largely appealing to the market. Therefore the company (Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc) remains a dominate player in the US automobile market. The core of the working class at Toyota Motor Sales are good people who want to help each other as well as help the customer. As a whole good people to work with.

Cons

Current leadership has lost site of what is important. 20 years ago the company valued their employees and reguarded them as their best asset. Senior management had a moto of sales growth with honor. Customer satisfaction was the cornerstone to their business model. Today the climate is very different. Senior management treats their employees as if they are lucky they are allowed to continue working there. Promotions are rarely based on ones abilities to get the job done. If you are very good at your job you are less likely to get promoted. Only the politically inclined are considered for promotions.

Advice to Senior Management

Get back to the value system that made Toyota a trusted company.
