Pros

Supposed work/life balance. You are generally not in fear of losing your job.

Cons

Career advancement difficult, due to people staying in their jobs for years.

Advice to Senior Management

More flexibility -- 9/80 schedule is nice, but so is telecommuting and part-time work.
