Toyota is a stable work environment, but don't expect to ever improve your standard of living by working there.

I have been working at Toyota

    Pros

Toyota is a very stable job environment. The work is not too demanding, and the people are all very professional.

    Cons

The upward mobility is non-existent. It is very difficult to improve your standard of living above the level that you come in at.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Because of the many benifit cuts and compensation cuts. Almost everybody I know is either interviewing or thinking about interviewing. When the economy recovers, there is going to be a large amount of knowledge leaving Toyota.

    I worked at Toyota

    Pros

Good benefits and good coworkers, culture is ok if you appreciate the Japanese management style, many opportunities for rotation within Purchasing or to other departments

    Cons

No direction from management and too much dead weight; too afraid to cut the fat to protect the 'no layoff' reputation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management - take a hard look at the people that can and cannot perform and have the guts to let them go when needed.
