Pros

The people you work with and the customers are a big plus. The store is always changing and there is always something to do. The benefits are also great.

Cons

Poor pay for all of the staff Work days are long and hard ( 52 hours for Store Managers or more ) SSC makes to many errors Freight flow from the DC to Stores is very poor To many check list or to much Micromanaging Payroll is always being cut Poor Faster Freight program

Advice to Management

There is a lot of great things about this company but they need to increase the pay scale. Freight flow to the stores need to be fixed at the dc level so all freight is sorted and ready to be placed on the shelf.

    Pros

Customers and a very close nit group of team members

    Cons

Was hired in as an assistant manager with multiple years expierence for a much larger chain. was told by new manager that HE WOULD HAVE TO GET USED TO WORKING WITH WOMEN IN MANAGEMENT! Raises are minimal at best, usually about 2% of your hourly rate. No help! Males are held to a different standard than females.

    Advice to Management

Teach and train your Store Managers to get used to having women in the work force. Reaccess your pay structure: employees work too hard to be insulted with pennies for a raise.

    Pros

There are several locations in several states. The stock continues to perform well. Very relaxed atmosphere. Employee discount that takes effect immediately.

    Cons

Managers are not well educated about running a business. Your average high school grad could run a store. District Manager and down the ladder do not care about the people in the store. There is no professionalism at all. Very inappropriate language allowed from managers as well as associates. Company claims to have high standard of ethics....but the zoo keeper has no idea what the monkeys are up to. Not a good experience. I left company due to verbal and emotional abuse.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach.
