I have been working at TracyLocke full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

A very relaxed atmosphere, where you can wear what you want, come in late if you want to (provided you work late) , take breaks to play ping pong or xbox. Alcohol flows freely (free beer and wine on fridays and at company meetings, even if the meeting is at 9am). Work can be challenging. Benefits used to be very good, but they've recently cut the number of allowable sick days in half, and it's been four years since our last 401k match.

Cons

Low to very low compensation, unreasonable (sometimes utterly, completely insane) deadlines, management absolutely cannot be trusted (especially any promises about raises or better benefits. Instead, look forward to cuts in holidays (3 days less than 2 years ago), sicks days (cut 50% last year), vacation (carry-over is eliminated this year), health insurance (increased deductibles, sharply rising rates), "flex" days, etc; a lesson hard-learned by all of us TLers). TracyLocke has been acquiring small agencies in Dallas, solely for their clients, then decimating their teams.

There are fairly frequent Ra-Ra meetings with cheering and booze and motivational videos, and even more frequent lay-offs and firings. There's no loyalty to the company, only to fellow coworkers.

I worked at TracyLocke full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    creative fun environment
    talented people
easy to get promoted to fill staff voids

    Cons

    management unplugged
    inefficient
    poor communication
too many talent shifts to fill staffing voids with no long-term vision or career plan for employees
always relying on flagship retainer to carry smaller size client retainers or new business
    Can't keep best industry talent
burn and churn through entry level employees
account leadership bullies and is very unprofessional - no clue

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at your management team. Extremely unprofessional and bias. Team would be ill-qualified if it weren't for the pre-established relationships they have with one main flagship client. If you need proof, look at your track record with new business. COO needs to be less organic and more attune. Sad state of affairs for a once talented agency.

With someone with <1 year of experience, this is a great first job to learn important lessons about the business.

I have been working at TracyLocke full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Learn important lessons about time management, prioritization, and responsibility. Also get a great understanding of how advertising works and how to work efficiently with account, creative, and production.

    Cons

First job most of the time requires you to stay very late into the evening. The work is demanding and you must be very detail oriented. The compensation is low for what we really do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to properly train all project managers before giving them their account.
