Former Employee - Mate (Assistant Manager) in Staten Island, NY

I worked at Trader Joe's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Co-workers and managers are usually very upbeat, creative types who hold down a job to pay the bills while they pursue artistic endeavors. Very gay-friendly.

    Cons

The 80/20 rule: 80% of the work gets done by just 20% of the crew. Lots of dead weight and management is very hesitant to lay off due to "diversity" concerns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The job is "at will" so get rid of employees that don't measure up within the first 90 days.
