Pros

The benefits at Trader Joe's are competitive.

Cons

What almost no one will tell you is, one of the ways Trader Joe's keep cost low is by not having a traditional approach to advertising. They use A TON of word of mouth to spread the news at Trader Joe's. This is great for consumers and terrible for all employees because no customers means no hours. This would be fine if management were upfront about this fact which they are not. It happens at every new Trader Joe's for the most part. With that said, my advice is to beware of working at a brand new store. There are hardly any hours to go around and they most definitely wont tell you that during training.

Advice to Management

Communicate with your crew members. Be upfront about the success (or lack there of) of your store. In this economy most will stick around and appreciate the honesty.

    Pros

great benefits, decent pay, flexible work hours, physical, fun atmosphere

    Cons

some fulltime management could improve, needs to be more of a balance between being friendly with coworkers and still maintaining professionalism, especially as a manager

    Pros

good pay, benefits, and you get to try a lot of new foods

    Cons

Almost no work/life balance for Mates, lots of drama, poor follow through by senior management, rude customers, and very little accountability for underperforming Crew Members. Really, if a Crew Member gets in with the store Captain they can get away with just about anything they want

    Advice to Management

Hold Crew Members accountable. Have Regional Directors monitor store Captains closely because a lot of them are promoted to Captains before they are ready
