I worked at TransCanada

Pros

Benefits are much better than most places, the more progressive Canadian policies are definitely in evidence.

Cons

Energy is in general is a male dominated industry. This was particularly true in the Portland office of TransCanada. Golfing was a favorite activity and women were rarely asked to participate in the golfing field trips that managers went on with their favorite staff.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address equality and sensitivity issues more seriously

Transcanada only thinks about the money and not the potential threat to the environment. Greedy

    I worked at TransCanada

    Pros

Worked 6 days a week for 14 hours per day. Lots of money made in 3 months working on pipeline.

    Cons

Safety issues were supposed to be important but when it came to the almighty dollar and finishing up in time - people took risks.

    I worked at TransCanada

    Pros

Company with good benefits and compensation, generally good work environment, and healthy work/life balance.

    Cons

As restructuring began, environment was less than nice. Took over a perfectally run subsidiary company and pretty much dissolved it and divested of the employees - many 35-40 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worry less about location and more about performance of employees.
