TransCanada is a good place to work seemingly unaffected by current financial crisis.

Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsPay, bonus, stock performance share units and days off are all at par or above those offered throughout the energy industry. Flex time allowing variable start and end of workday is a benefit. Tools provided in support of the job function are good.

ConsDifficult to understand at times the desires of management and the measures they will use to evaluate performance. Personnel cutbacks have resulted in higher workload than normal and "burnout" is a possibility. Standards between Canadian and US based employees are not the same i.e. employees in Canada receive 7 more days off that in the US for identical service.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove communication. Work on standardizing work environment between all employees at all locations.
