I worked at TransDigm

Pros

Good pay and benefits, mostly good people who want to do a good job.

Cons

Biggest focus is on making the "numbers" every month and not accepting that the "numbers" might not be possible. Maximum overtime, squeezing suppliers, attempting to force suppliers to work overtime and weekends - all in an attempt to make the "numbers." Not much work/life balance. Union environment also hampers getting the job done.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Constantly pushing people is going to burn them out. Constantly pushing suppliers is going to eventually sour the relationship - they are going to start seeking out other customers.

I have been working at TransDigm full-time

    Pros

Reduced overhead and laid off nonessential staff.
    Retained some lean manufacturing personnel.
Provided capital to revive a business.

    Cons

    Layoffs were deep.
    Benefits could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a corporate identity instead of having 24 plants do their separate things. Outsource non-core functions like IT and maintenance. Focus on creating value by utilizing common tools and practices.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
