    Pros

I guess co-workers, but even they were always trying to stab you in the back. This was mostly due to the systematic indoctrination and playing of favorites.

    Cons

Management figures out how to turn people against one another, mostly through touting "promotions" that weren't really promotions at all. Also, the managers (UM level and above) were not good at developing claims professionals. There was one manager in particular who thought they were the end all of talent developers, but all he was interested in was his own gains. He would keep someone who was capable of promotion in a dead end spot to pad his numbers. This all went on in full view of the higher ups, who were just as obsessed with the numbers as their lackeys.

Also, it's been said that there was no consistent way to exceed expectations (really the only way to get a raise or bonus). Management determines a rating for each office, grading them on a number of factors in competition for paltry shares of profits. If you are not on at least three committees that do nothing and aren't working on special side projects that have nothing to do with your job description, you will never get a bonus. That's the nature of this beast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop turning people against one another, grow a sense of humor and stop making everyone in the department think they are more important than you actually treat them.
