Pros

If you are interested in knowing what the company is like just check out the investor profile on any finance website. They are a safe long term invest, or as I like to say, it's insurance and therefore a risk adverse company.

Cons

There are very few growth opportunities and as an IT professional there is no room to work with any technology that has come out in the last 2 years.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a lot of talk in the organization about developing talent, but not a lot of action. Many of the senior level positions come from the outside. Consider hiring from the inside.

    Pros

Financially stable company, always have plenty of work to do, good individual development program (if utilized) and great inter-company networking groups. They have a great underwriting training program.

    Cons

Managers tend to micromanage and requesting for time off work is difficult, even when you've earned it. Promotions are very seldom and opportunities for advancement are slim. There is a huge divide between operations and underwriting. Instead of promoting experienced employees from operations to underwriting they tend to hire externally, undergraduates. Lastly, managers show too much favoritism and at times condescending. Employees usually stay for only 3-5 years, revolving door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lessen the meetings about meetings. Value your employees by promotion, competitive compensation and keeping your promises.
