I have been working at Travelex

Pros

easy to get time off
flexible work hours
downtown DC
Gym in the building
coffee maker (although the coffee tastes awful)

Cons

compensation
HR department sides with Management
Managers who are in their position due to friends and family
biases that carry over between departments regardless of ones work ethic.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and retain your top talent by paying them a competitive wage and get rid of some of the people who are barely competent enough to correctly complete their day to day responsibilities. This would help morale and show others that you respect and admire hard-work.

I have been working at Travelex

    Pros

competitive benefits, management is putting more effort into making a better work environment.

    Cons

no clear direction/management. Penny wise and pound foolish. There's internal struggles between departments (have a cover your ass mentality). The company seems to prefer hiring outside the company instead of promoting/rewarding their good employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the office culture and communicate the direction of the business to the whole company.

I worked at Travelex part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent line manager
Once trained, the job is quite simple so minimum stress.
In- bureau culture was great. Lovely work colleagues.
Ability to work shifts to fit around studying.
For a part-time student job, this was quite 'responsible' and looked great on a CV. Much better than other minimum wage part time jobs available for students.
If you are looking for somewhere to work whilst studying/returning part time from maternity leave etc. this is a great place to work.
    Shifts finished by 8pm.

    Cons

    Very little career progression opportunities.
Pay for full time was bad, plus if you were only part-time the bonus scheme worked against you.
Senior management were on occasion, hypercritical and unprofessional.
Job is very target driven and you will be named and shamed if you do not reach the required targets.
Could be stressful when new in the job as you were left alone after not much training.
Full timers tended to leave often so there was a constant stream of new recruits.
You will be required to cover other stores which could include long travelling time. If you own a car and drive, you will be asked more often. (great if you want overtime, bad for work/life balance).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make targets realistic to motivate employees and work to encourage people to stay longer.
