Pros

salary and benefits are at fair market, working with colleagues that are knowledgeable in the industry, if you are lucky to land in a department that is the "darling one' then you will have meaningful work.

Cons

lack of direction from senior management, micro-management of staff due to lack of direction, silo environment with senior management playing politics (old guard vs. new guard).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are no silver bullets. A well planned strategy along with execution goes a long way to meet goals.

    Pros

Good product; travel agency clients favorable to offerings received via booking website and services provided to travelers.

    Cons

Upper management in New York office mandate rather than listen to needs conveyed by sales organization and viable data/report tools are almost non-existent. Cliquish upper management with supervisors prevail over client messages to Travel Bound delivered via sales representatives.

Travel agents increasingly complain at service level received by support groups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the client. Give sales empowerment.

Last 5 years were very turbulent. Lots of consolidations, divestures, continuos layoffs.

    Pros

International scope with good people around. Very good employer in stable times.

    Cons

Owned by Private Equity firms hence no job security. Short term outlook. i.e. Next Quarter profits matters first. Very unstable environment at times. Senior exec tenure less than 3 years - revolving door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Currently and in the past, the wealth distribultion has been one way. First Cendant and now Blackstone bleeding the cash cow. Bring back the Galileo / Apollo / Wordspan original family / airline culture. Share some of the wealth with the employees which in reality is created by the employees. Recent example - Suspension of IPO was due to excessive Senior Leadership payouts (not a US or UK Penny for the employees) and was not due to European Soveriegn Debt (Greece). At the same time Amadeus was succesful in its IPO.
