I worked at Travelport

Pros

Good company in a dying industry. The people who wanted to innovate diod not come to the fore nad there was as bit of a realisation that the low cost airline model would not survive....

Cons

They really need to look at the quality of some of their acquisitions in the past - vanity purchases that appeared to fill a technology gap were badly chosen.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop living in the past and accept the realities that the business model has changed.....innovate or you will really have no relevance. The legacy systems of the airlines will eventually fold.

I have been working at Travelport

    Pros

The co-workers are the best reason to work at Travelport. Most have been here quite awhile so there is camaraderie.

    Cons

The downsides are too many to mention. Always talking about the bottom line and making you feel like you should be grateful for the measly bonus they give you every year. The company is desperately out of touch with it's employees and the atmosphere is definitely company centric. There haven't been salary base pay reviews in years. Basically employees are working for peanuts and the company knows it yet refuses to address salary. No room to grow or go in this company and training of staff is abysmal. Too many good people have been laid off and the company realized the loss of important intellectual value much too late. Again, looking to increase the bottom line. And the staff that is left is pushed to make up for it. Merging with Worldspan was a joke. No effort was put into making sure there was a seamless integration of both companies at a employee level. They talk like they care about employees but actions are louder than words. Really, this company is very depressing to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

See Cons. Somehow the disconnect between employee and management has become a gulf. I've never worked for a company that was so into itself and pats itself on the back so consistently. Employees are your bread and butter. It would be nice if management actually looked out for it's employees.

    I worked at Travelport

    Pros

Travelport offered interesting opportunities for growth and development as well as compensated quite well as compared to other companies. Everyone for the most part knew everyone else in the company and worked well together, supporting each other when necessary.

    Cons

The lack of communication from the SLT down to mid to lower managment. The lack of support for out-of-the-box thinking. No organic growth strategy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the talent you have and get the most out of it. Reward those who serve up strategic concepts for long term growth.
